I Love a Good Party
Kim's party was this weekend, and we had a good turn-out:
I made a ladybug cake for the event. It is always fun to see friends that we only get to see once in a while. After the bulk of the guests left, our closest neighbors stayed for an after-hours party. I've said it before but it bears repeating...we have the best neighbors!!
In fiber news, I made a Sett Gauge (WPI Tool) out of maple to match the maple noste:
I have a couple of projects in the works. First is a new tri-loom shawl (Mom loved the previous one and it has now gone to its new home with her):
I love the look of the herringbone stitch (reverse twill). I was going for a black-and-tan kind of look, and I think it is working out nicely.
I'm also making a little bonnet for a new baby born to a neighbor last week. The pattern is from "Last Minute Knitted Gifts", but it doesn't look like much yet:
It is supoosed to take 2 to 4 hours to make, but I am such a slow knitter...I think I've already put 4 hours into it with about 1 more(at least) to go. I hope to finish it tonight.
We've all been playing with Kim's new toys today. My favorite? A potholder loom, of course.

Isn't it awesome that those pot holder looms are still around? Such fun! You can get extra loopers pretty cheaply on EBay if you have a sudden urge to crank out thousands of potholders... What a cute cake!!!
